Opportunity Austin 2.0

Opportunity Austin, the Chamber's economic development arm, unveiled Opportunity Austin 2.0 in 2004 as the newest phase of its regional growth strategy. This business initiative has played a major role in helping Austin businesses create more high paying jobs. Austin continues to effectively attract and retain talent and companies. With Opportunity Austin 2.0, Central Texas business leaders are reinforcing their steadfast commitment to improving the area's work force, quality of life and business climate through aggressive, proactive programming.

A core component of Opportunity Austin 2.0 is to develop more effective education practices to improve the area’s work force. The 20,010 by 2010 initiative focuses on getting 64% of Metro Austin’s seniors to enroll in college within 90 days of graduation. There are multiple programs in place to help students prepare for higher education ranging from in school tutoring to workshops that help students navigate the financial aid process.
